History

The "Auberge Beauséjour" was built in 1911 at the bottom of "Côte de la Misère" (Misery Slope) by Mr. Eugène Cimon (see photo at left) who ran the Inn with the help of his family during many years. In 1925, after an earthquake that shook the area, he decided to reopen the Inn on its present location. My father, Eugène Tremblay, bought it in 1945.

Working together, he and his wife Georgette have modernized it over the years by adding 6 motel units and a salt water swimming-pool. Finally, they enlarged the rear end of the main structure (for the kitchen and bedrooms) and at the side (for the dining room). My 4 brothers and 2 sisters grew up here.

In 1977, after having worked with my father for a while, I bought the Inn. In 1978, Diane and I got married and we, in turn, settled down in the Inn. Slowly but surely, we started modernizing. At first, we dit what was most pressing: painting, carpeting and the beds. In 1983, the bar was re-done, the dining room was insulated and in 1984 we replaces the 6 old motel-units with 12 new ones. In 1988, we completely renovated the dining room and in 1989, we re-vamped the main floor and the first bedroom-floor. During that time, we also decided to relocate our family (with our 2 children, Antoine-1983 and Camille-1988), to a home of our own.

Ever since, renovations and improvements continue in order to pursue the legendary hospitality of the Tremblay family, but with today's colours and flavours.

Of note is that in 2008 we became a proud pioneer of the Association Quebec Hotelkeepers "RéserVert" program aimed at sustainable development. Auberge Beauséjour participates in a range of activities promoting respect of our planet and its' habitants. Every day, we take steps aligned with this program while a the same time sensitizing our distinguished clientele to this worthy cause.

Recently, a very important moment: the Tremblay family has a new member with the arrival of little Chloé (2009), daughter of our son Antoine and his partner Karine. Thus is born a fourth generation of
hospitality in the Auberge Beauséjour.

We are proud of what our inn became and we unceasingly work to maintain and improve what we have.

Hoping to see you soon,

Your inn keepers.
